With the third annual Victoria Beer Week fast approaching, it’s time to get your thirst on.
The nine-day series of events (from March 4 to 12) will feature more than 50 craft breweries from across British Columbia this year. The schedule is jam-packed with fun events for the beer-lovers among us, but here are our top three picks.

Celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 with an evening of storytelling paired with beer and food at the Drake Eatery.
Drink In the Story will feature Julia Hanlon from Steamworks Brewing, Karen Kuzyk from Category 12 Brewing and Chloe Smith from Townsite Brewing sharing the story behind their breweries and one of their beers.
The website says the evening promises to “offer insight into some of their inspiration, frustration, education and craft – as well as what it’s like to be a woman in an industry that is still male-dominated.”
Sounds rad. A $35 ticket will get you three 10-oz samples of beer with three paired food samples.

Twelve breweries are taking part in the popular Beer, Cheese, More Beer event on March 10.
Because this event has sold out quickly in past years, it’s moved to the Victoria Public Market this time around — where we’re assured there will be more cheese and more beer.
A $30 ticket will get you a sampler glass, eight beer tokens good for one 4-oz serving each and all the cheese and crackers you can handle.

Six bartenders will be slinging beer-inspired cocktails at The Drake on March 6 for Dubbel or Nuthin.
This event gets the nod for the clever write-up alone: “When hopportunity knocks, which bartender will rise to the occasion? Who will have the rye of the tiger? Citra ass down and watch as six amazing bartenders sling cocktails that ain’t nothin to bock at.”
A $20 ticket will get you a piece of the action and six small samples.
